Kasbah Hnini is located in the heart of the Draa Oasis, in a traditional Berber, Arab, and Jewish village. It is also strategically located close to two main crossroads. One route leads further south to the city of Zagora and the sanddunes of Erg Chigaga, and the other takes you via the town of Tazzarine on to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
For centuries, the Draa Valley was a major hub for trade routes between Timbuktu and Europe, with goods such as ivory and gold (and also slaves) being transported through the region.
Today, the Draa is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, as well as its sophisticated irrigation system which is essential for the region's agriculture and social structure.
Kasbah Hnini is located in the heart of the Draa Oasis, in a traditional Berber, Arab, and Jewish village made of adobe. Visitors can stay with us for a few days to explore the area, or stop by on their way to the Sahara, either to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga (4 hours away) or the Erg Chigaga dunes in Mhamid (also approximately 4 hours away). We are located approximately 5½ hours away from Marrakech, and the nearest airports are in Zagora (45 minutes away) or Ouarzazate (1½ hours away).
Royal Air Maroc fly to Zagora (30 minutes to Kasbah Hnini) or Ouarzazate (1hr 45 to Kasbah Hnini) from both Casablanca and Marrakech.
It is possible to arrange a private jet or helicopter from Marrakech to either Ouarzazate or Zagora airport.
